THIS PRIORTY IS ADMINISTERED BY AN ACTIVE WORKING GROUP
The Province of Ontario provides emergency preparedness and response assistance fo First Nations pursuant to its contractual relationship with the Government of Canada. When an emergency situation exists within a First Nation that compels a partial or full evacuation of the residents from that community, Emergency Management Ontario (EMO), a Branch of the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services, in partnership with other relevant provincial ministries and federal departments, is responsible for preparing for and conducting evaluations. EMO is also responsible for making arrangements with Ontario municipalities and other First Nartions in the province to act as Host Communities for the purpose of providing accommodation and other services to those persons who have been evacuated. When circumstances in the First Nation that was affected by the emergency have sufficiently changed to permit the residents' safe return, EMO and its partners will also coordinate the safe return and repatriation of those persons.
