Mission

The Mission of the Mental Health and Addictions Working Group is to assist First Nation Communities and their members affected by chemical dependency, mental illness or related conditions to achieve a better quality of life-allowing them to live as productive and accountable members within their communities. Strategies include:

  • providing collaborative, concrete approaches to deal with the epedemic of prescription drug abuse;
  • aligning with current work being done within FN communities;
  • improving services for those First Nation members currently suffering from addictions and ensuring that mental health services are available to all First Nations no matter where they reside.
  • developing and implementing new approaches to address the challenge of thihs continuing epodemic.

Purpose
To address prescription narcotics abuse among children, youth and adults licing on-reserve from a holistic perspective via a series of concrete activities.
