Ontario First Nation Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan

Emergency means a situation or an impending situation that constitutes a danger of major proportions that could result in serious harm to persons or substantial damage to property and that is caused by the forces of nature, a disease or other health risk, an accident or an act whether intentional or otherwise. They affect public safety, meaning the health, welfare and property, as well as the environment and economic health of the community.

In order to protect residents, businesses and visitors, each First Nation Community requires a coordinated emergency response by a number of agencies under the direction of the First Nation Control Group. These are distinct arrangement and procedures from the normal, day-to-day operations carried out by emergency services.

The attached resource is a template that can be used by a First Nation Community to develop such a plan.
