ONTARIO FIRST NATIONS YOUNG PEOPLES COUNCIL LIFE PROMOTION CAMPAIGN ‘NATURAL HIGH’ TAKES OFF

The Ontario First Nations Young Peoples Council (OFNYPC) are proud to release ‘Natural High’, a life promotion campaign initiative that includes a public service announcement and a mini documentary. OFNYPC share the stories of their peers who have overcome addiction struggles to become young leaders of today.

The ‘Natural High’ campaign is an encouraging message of hope and success. The OFNYPC want to convey that while life can be challenging, it offers many rewards that are available to everyone. There are ways to obtain a ‘Natural High’ without resorting to drugs and addictive substances.

OFNYPC member and Anishinabek Nation youth representative, Quinn Meawasige, participated in the making of the public service announcement and mini documentary and is featured in both productions. He had this to say about the initiative:

“Both videos display a vibrant story of young peoples struggling with the loss of identity and a road to recovery. By discovering themselves, youth begin to see the beauty of life. These videos will without a doubt inspire, move and touch the hearts of our young people. Sending a positive message of hope can give youth the ambition, belief and drive to make a difference, not only in their life but in the lives of others.”

We are excited to have obtained a 30 second spot that will be featured on the national television network CTV, courtesy of Bell Media. The messages are also available on the social media video sharing outlet, Vimeo. They can be accessed through the following links:

Please share with your networks and most importantly with the young people in your community. We want all young people to know that they can walk with pride in the footprints of our ancestors into a future that is filled with endless opportunities.

The Chiefs of Ontario and Ontario First Nations Young Peoples Council want to express their gratitude to the Centre for Mental Health and Addiction for providing funding and support and to Acoz Productions for filming and producing the videos.
