Save the Date – Assembly of First Nations: First Nations Homelessness Symposium

The Assembly of First Nations (AFN) is hosting a virtual National First Nations Homelessness Symposium. This event will be the AFN’s first symposium on homelessness and will provide a unique opportunity for dialogue and learning on strategies to address and ultimately eliminate homelessness for First Nations living both in and away from their communities. Please join us for this important event which is open to all who wish to attend.

Dates: June 7 and 8, 2021
Times: 11:00am – 4:30pm EDT
Location: Streaming from unceded Algonquin territory.

Who Should Attend:

  • First Nations Leadership;
  • First Nation Technicians;
  • Government Officials;
  • Service providers working in the areas of homelessness, housing, health, child welfare, or other related areas;
  • First Nation community members;
  • Individuals with lived experience of homelessness and housing insecurity; and
  • Women, Youth, Two-Spirt and LGBTQ+ individuals, Elders, and Veterans.

Topics will include:

  • Work being done by First Nations communities and organizations to improve service delivery for their members experiencing homelessness;
  • Work to advance First Nations self-determination within the area of homelessness;
  • Federal government programs and services aimed at preventing and addressing homelessness for First Nations;
  • First Nations lived experiences of homelessness; and
  • Current data and data gaps in First Nations homelessness.
